stars-146834_640It’s that time of the year again! 3 Day Cleanses! 10 Day Detoxes! 11 Day Smoothie Challenges! 15 Day Juicing Rebellions! Sugar. Gluten. White flour. Meat. White foods. Anything you chew…

Yeah, look, they just don’t work for my clients. I mean, they may help you start tasting some real food again, like the bombs in the now uncoated sugar-frosted sugar bombs, but in the long run, they don’t seem to work for the real chronic health issues my clients suffer from on a daily basis.

Why don’t I lead short term detoxes? Well, put it this way: if you plan out a rocking awesome road trip across the US, you pack the car after getting new windshield wipers, fresh oil and a full tank of gas, why would you start the car and leave it running the driveway for 2 weeks (or until you run out of gas and/or burn out your engine)? You don’t get to where you were planning on going. You never get the see the Fields Museum in Chicago, the largest ball of yarn in Cawker City, Kansas or smell the inviting aroma of the world famous Ghirardelli chocolate at Pier 39 in San Francisco. And you never end up truly pain-free and full of energy. Short term detoxes and cleanses are like prepping for that journey but never getting there.
