Christene is the Founder and Principal of help New England. She has 17 years of professional experience in health education and promotion, safety education and programming. She completed her Masters degree in Health Education from Boston University in 2004 and completed an M.A. in Integrative Health and Healing in 2013. Her community and worksite smoking cessation program, QuitButts, was recognized with a National Health Information Award in 2009 and 2011.

Thesis: A Cost Analysis of the Treatment of Postpartum Depression: Western Medicine vs Three CAM Therapies

The data from this research study allowed this researcher to question why companies, mainly health insurance companies who have to pay out for treatments, sometimes repeatedly for poor treatments, second opinions and to treat side effects, arent funding research to prove effectiveness of alternative treatments or to define the profile of the patient who would best benefit from alternative, and less expensive, treatment. Generic antidepressants prescribed by, and under the treatment of, a primary care doctor for one year was $3,494.25. The next highest total treatment cost for a year of bi-weekly acupuncture treatments was $3,160. The next least expensive option studied was naturopathic treatment with a total yearly cost of $1,185. Finally, homeopathy had the lowest treatment costs of $386. The results of this study provide a call for additional study of the effectiveness of CAM therapies that will benefit the patient, the bottom-line of the insurance provider and our national healthcare system.

Design and Administration of Integrative Health Coaching Protocol

Researched, designed and administered an Integrative Health Coaching Protocol to address Metabolic Syndrome. Utilized nutrition science, naturopathic theories and exercise for hormonal fat burning. Protocol approved by Evelyn Dedominicis, a certified health coach and Joan Palmer, MS in Nutrition Science and owner of Real Food Matters, LLC.

First client on the protocol lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks with no hunger, no cravings and with steady energy throughout the day, lowered blood pressure readings and diabetic blood sugar readings that dropped into the normal range. The clients adherence to the protocol continues. The 50 year old client says, Ive never felt younger!

Mentorship: Osteopathy and Primary Care in an Integrative Medicine Center

Observed skilled Osteopathic Doctor as she provided primary care, urgent care and osteopathic treatments to patients of all ages and their families. Care included functional medicine consults, review of lab and test results and recommendations for treatment using functional medicine and Integrative Medicine modalities (homeopathy, vitamins, supplements, food and pharmaceuticals). Forty-five minute osteopathic treatments were observed as she connected with the respiration of the patient and made minor adjustments for health.
